In The Kitchen- Lentil Carrot Veggie Burgers
I have started to make my own veggie burgers rather than buying the processed high sodium ones I have eaten for years. These tasted great and were easy to make, so I thought I would share.
Ingredients:
1/4 cup finely chopped onion
1/4 cup grated carrots
1/4 cup water3 cups cooked lentils, mashed
2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
3 tbsp tomato paste
3/4 cup bread crumbs
salt to taste
oil for frying ( I put mine in the toaster oven which is a healthier version for those that care)
Preparation: Cook the onion and carrot in the water until tender, about ten minutes.Drain off excess water, then combine the onion and carrot with the remaining ingredients except oil.Form into patties and fry in a lightly oiled frying pan until browned on both sides and heated through, about ten minutes.

Enjoy!

Book Review
This type of book is what I call sophisticated chick lit. It's the Young and the Restless of soaps, entertaining but not as ridiculous as say... Passions. I enjoyed the intertwined storyline of the characters and despite the fact that like a soap this shit never really happens, it was a fun read. A charming story about relationships gone wrong and how after experiencing the initial bite they can lead you to " new beginnings and happy endings".
This is the second book I have read by Jane Green and I would definitely pick up another.

Spain and Portugal
So my trip was awesome. I had the pleasure of travelling with my buddies, Leyser, Liselle and Tiff. Weather was great, people were lovely in both countries and I have become addicted to cafe' con leche. Portugal was filled with beautiful colours and Spain massive buildings and monuments. I was able to visit both the Sophia and The Prado museum while in Madrid, drank some of the best sangria one could find and met some fantastic people. We had a blast!
Here are a few pics- for those that have me on FB the complete albums are there.
Next trip isn't till Nov.........

Finally a movie that does some justice to the book! Loved it. Most of the theater was crying, there was a guy in front of me weeping, it was soo cute! We read this book back when I had my book club, it's one of my top 5 all time favorites. A great original love story. The casting in this movie was perfect, Eric Bana I adore you ( soo sexy!). If you haven't read the book, though you must, I believe you will still love the movie.
Time means nothing
A+++ read the book!

My First.....
I was given a tomato plant, from my Dad, for my rooftop patio. I named it Becky after my buddy at work, I have no idea why :) Initially I had it in the shade cause my rooftop gets so hot and obviously was unaware that tomatoes like direct sun. So last week I moved it and I can proudly say I grew me some tomatoes!! I brought the first one to work the other night ( showed everyone that would look) and Becky ( my buddy not the plant) and I threw some salt and pepper on that kid and I must say it was delicious.

My Birthday......
was amazing! On the Friday we spent the day at the Elmwood Spa then headed to my place for cake and drinks, dinner on the rooftop at Milestone's ( the weather and view was beautiful, the drink of choice Vanilla Vodka and Red Bull) and then we went dancing at Brant House. I am soo thankful for great friends. Saturday I went to brunch with a few of the girls and then hung out in Little Italy and had the best pizza ( my buddy Kat took me on a looong walk- I only slept for 3 hours, it wasn't pretty) and in the evening we went to see Broken Social Scene give a free concert on the Harbour front. Sunday my family had a barbeque for me with a few friends and we had more cake.
It couldn't have been better- here are a few of the pics from that weekend

Book Review
I was reading this at work one day and my colleague Brian came up to me and said " pretty intense book" and gave me a look. I just stared back at him, I was thinking it's a good read( a little slow to start) but I would not have used the word "intense". He said " are you kidding me, you don't think so". I said no. Then he told me what I didn't know, that is was a true story. That changed my opinion. One of my students at the hospital lent it to me months ago and I just started reading it last week. I didn't make the connection between the authors name and the main "character", Jeannette, who despite living in dysfunction never gave up or gave in. I adored her. I agree with her that "sometimes people get the lives they want"pg 256. Jeannette and her siblings had quite a ride growing up with parents who believed that being homeless was an adventure. I also agree that it was intense.
" But Mom," I said " that ring could get us a lot of food".

You must go see this movie, it is hilarious! I laughed so much my face hurt at the end of it all- really. I went with my buddy Marlo and her friends Laura and Ida and they too loved it ( the whole theater was laughing throughout the movie). Without a doubt the funniest movie I have seen in years. Grab some friends, a bag of popcorn and enjoy! Trailer

IDFA Natural Novice Show
I had a great time at the IDFA show this weekend. I ended up volunteering and working the booth, met some great people, the organizers are very nice and the athletes looked fantastic. I freaked myself out a little ( a lot)- some of the girls looked a few weeks out from turning pro to me. The theater is the same venue for the July 11th show ( my show) so it was nice to see it. At one point I thought, the hell with this I'm going for pizza after I'm done here- I won't be ready, I felt so pathetic and beaten. I was given a good talking to by some of the people I met. Heather always tells me to " trust the process", I plan to continue to give it a 100%, learn from my first show, build confidence and do another show in the fall. As I was told ya gotta start somewhere, just go for it! I will.

Movie Review
Dear Hugh Jackman
I love you. I dream to find a guy who adores his wife, is faithful and sports a great ass like you do. Your accent is orgasmic.
love B
This movie was fantastic, action packed and worth seeing just to have the pleasure of looking at Hugh for 2 hours. The boy was waking up at 345am to down egg whites and workout for this role and WOW, I still have a smile on my face- it was lovely. A must see in the theater. At the end of the movie everyone stayed sitting until the credits were done, weird I thought, but my friend Marlo informed me that the previous X Men movies show a clip after the credits hinting to the next movie. They did- so wait.
Amazing!

Movie Review
This was not as good as I thought it would have been, however, I enjoyed it. Beyonce' does not play sexy very well ( some of her scenes were awkward) but the girl can get her hate on. The diva got dirty in this one. The fight between her and Ali Larter at the end was typical white girl gets her butt kicked. What was not typical was when Beyonce's character went up to the attic with the suspense music playing in the background and a girl from the audience yelled out " she's so white" LOL black girls normally don't do that, it's us white chicks that always get killed in the scary movies.(I would just like to point out that my ass would be out the front door) The husband was hot and the story predictable but again I enjoyed it. The audience laughed out loud A LOT when the movie was trying to be serious and at the end when Ali Larter hits the ground and her eyes open- priceless!
You could wait to rent this one but if you appreciate ( maybe there is a girl....) 2 girls getting there smack on I say give it a go.
Don't forget to put the alarm on ladies! lol . I went with my friend Katharine ( who I will refer to as kitty from now on) and I believe she liked it as well. The reason I say this is because she needed to use the washroom for over an hour and held it like a champ. She ate popcorn, which smelled divine, I had an apple and protein shake. I promise that did not affect my rating.

Hope everyone enjoys a great week end with family and friends. I am working half the weekend and yes I will be wearing these ears to work on Sunday. I work on an adolescent eating disorder unit so bringing treats is not appropriate so I dress up, the kids get a good laugh out of it. We usually do crafts with those unable to go home for the week end. The kids amaze me sometimes, they are so creative and talented they do a great job- me not so much but I try.

Movie Review
This is the first movie ever that had me considering actually getting up to go to the washroom mid movie ( I overdosed on tea because I couldn't have popcorn). If you adore Clive Owen don't question going to see this, he looked great in every pair of pants he wore. The chemistry he has with Julia Roberts is fantastic but the story line not so interesting and not what I expected. I went with Joan, who towards the end kept saying " I'm so confused" and my mother who kept looking at her watch, and whispered in my ear " Missy how long is it" It was 2hrs and 5 min - too long for me!

It's Britney B*tch!
The Concert was great! I went with my friends dirty girl (Najwa) and Leyser (Andrea). Yes she lipped through the whole concert, as expected, but it was entertaining and she looked hot. The dancers, costumes and circus performers were fantastic. We had amazing seats, my only complaint was the T shirts were crappy. The Pussycat Dolls opened the show- I loved it. If you would have asked me last year if she was capable of this I would have doubted it, but my queen of Tabloid Thursday did good. ( yes I know it's been over a month since a TT post but every time I walk past the tabloids I think * Blah*) They had popcorn which I wasn't able to have because of my training, Leyser teased me - it hurt not to eat any LOL.

Do you have a goal that's intimidating you? Forcing you to procrastinate and procrastinate? Well, today, you need to either start on it or give it up. You have learned to be flexible and go back and forth on various projects, but you can't go back and forth on this one. If you are too afraid to get started, then you shouldn't even bother tackling a tough project. But if you want something badly, you need to find the resolve deep in your heart to get it. The Arnold- Columbus Ohio
We had a great time! I had the pleasure of flying to Ohio with Ruby and Tascha and we met up with my buddy Jodi who drove from Indianapolis. The weather was fantastic, the fitness expo was huge and the people so nice. We grabbed some great samples and I bought a few T shirts for myself. Some random memories......
* Jodi walked through the door with her purse vibrating.
* Clifford told us to just follow gay st ,lol
* The boys at Martini needed a lesson in size
* I was asked to be in a threesome by a hooker - no joke!
* I was told by Jen Hendershott - " you Canadian girls all look the same" lol
* Tascha was told by Tosca Reno- " your face is inflamed- you eat too much sugar" lol
* Stool Softeners were the drug of choice that week end by all involved
* The wind threw my glasses off my face and a street person stood by and told me he saw it, laughed and then asked me for money- I gave him a dollar.
* Tascha is still lookin for her boxing gloves and skipping rope- lol there's a story there.
* We all drank - ruby had red bull and I actually danced
* We hung out with the boys of UFC and received VIP treatment - Thanks Shawn!
We all plan to go back next year- good times
enjoy the slide show

To The Stage and Beyond!
The best thing that happened to me at the Arnold Fitness Classic in Ohio was running into Terry Frendo at the expo on Saturday. I grabbed him just to say hello ( he is a super nice approachable guy) and he gave my friends and I some copies of the latest issue of his magazine- Inside Fitness. I found out after he left that my pic I had sent him was in the magazine along with my intention to compete. I was sooo happy!( maybe he didn't tell me cause he was scared I would hug him to death lol) Just a couple months ago I had contacted him with a proposal to write about my journey to the stage. I asked him if he believed in me, he replied " I believe in people who believe in themselves" and he said he liked the photo I sent with my letter and asked if he could use it in the letter to the editor section. I can not say thank you enough. The magazine is available in Canada at major newstands, Walmart and Shoppers Drug Mart.

Theater Review
I love going to the theater and I have been lucky to see a few shows while in New York City, Chicago was my favorite. I have a new favorite! The Colour Purple was amazing!! The singing was impeccable, the stage was well done though despite this was not the main focus of the play( though one of the most visually appealing I have ever seen), the acting, singing and story was. It was sad and yet extremely funny. It was fantastic. I went with a group of friends from work and everyone agreed it is a must see.
I forgot to do a review of Dirty Dancing which I saw last month- it was good the second half was much better and the dance sequence at the end made you feel like you were watching the movie- most girls loved that moment " nobody puts baby in the corner" it was well done . I took my mom and dad to see it for their x mas gift.
This pic was taken on our way to the theater after dinner, we have a little joke at work about Hello Kitty. I bought Liselle and I our own Hello Kitty bow hair clips. Don't worry we took them off before we entered the theater. B:)

LOve
I can honestly say I never grew up wanting to get married and have children. I never sat dreaming over wedding books or liked hanging out with other people's kids very much. I dreamed of travelling and becoming an athlete- lol, but then I met Emma. This little girl makes my heart giggle. You can't tell so much from this pic but she has the most beautiful blue eyes and the kid never cries, she is a doll and she likes hanging out with me.
I hope so if not I will start quoting Angelina Jolie.

Movie Review
The Oscars brought this movie to my attention and then everyone at my work who saw it told me it was a must see. This is a movie rich in culture and original in it's story line. It deserves the attention it is getting. I asked before going to see it if it was a sad movie - I was told it was inspiring. I went to see the movie with my friend Joan and my mother, they both liked it but my mom did say it was a little depressing and Joan said it was sad. I thought is was unique and although I didn't cry it was intense in emotion. And yes the music is catchy- I can't get that song out of my head. I also had a huge bag of popcorn with ketchup powder and savoured the taste as it won't hit my mouth again for at least 5 months due to training for my competition which starts in less than 2 weeks.
I still think The Curious Case of Benjamin Button should have won best picture.

Movie Review
The good, the bad and the ugly! Oh the things we do when we are trying to catch "the one". The poor insight, judgement and the mistakes we make. I was glad that despite the title , the movie paid equal attention to the shit both women and MEN do. It always surprises me how a woman can loose herself when dating someone ( I am guilty of this), you try so hard that you take on another personality that is no longer a representation of the person you were when you met the guy - when you were in control! however I have learned that when this morphosis happens it's because the guy is NOT the one and the comfort of just having someone , anyone takes over. When the person is the right one it will be effortless and you will NOT lose yourself- you will be better.
The movie was funny, a little slow at times, I love that Scarlett Johansen was working her curves and looking great ( though what a whore in the movie LOL) and that guy from the show Alias aka the cheater - was HOT!!! I would do yoga with him any day. I drank a huge diet Pepsi before the movie even started and the fact that I really really had to go to the bathroom for the last hour may have affected my rating of the movie :)

Movie Review
So good that it's 1215 am, I have slept 3 hours in the last 24 but I couldn't go to bed before telling you how great this movie was. I was told it was slow, and it was, but slow can be very very good. I was intrigued by the story line from the beginning, the acting was fantastic and like any great book it made you reflect about life.
I cried. I love it when a movie can throw so much at me that I can't keep it together.

Book Review
A book about dreams, finding your "Personal Legend" and living in the present. I love a book that can be short yet so good. Sometimes a book falls into your lap at the most perfect time and because of that you take so much more away from the read, that's how I feel about this one. Full of pretty sentences and enough quotes to motivate you for a year or more. I started to write down all the phrases that I liked but stopped as it became excessive, the book was lent to me but I plan to buy my own copy. When I was told the book was about a sheppard boy, I wasn't sure what to expect, but I really liked the story and the message behind it. This would make a great gift. 20 years old this story is and still making the best sellers list- read it if you haven't already!
Love it!

Book Review
A few times while reading this I was reminded that this was the same person who wrote sex and the city and developed the famous, oh you little whore, Samantha character. I just wish there would have been more of those moments cause I kinda enjoyed them. This was a decent book, I love chick lit and I liked the few sentences full of trash that I found in this one. The story was interesting, fun and I can see them making a series out of this. As with my previous chick lit reviews I don't want to try and get all deep about the book- it's chick lit for crying out loud, it is what it is. If you like the soaps this is your kinda crap.
My next book is gonna be a little more thought provoking but I needed this after the my last read.

Love Forever
She called me a princess. I use to change my clothing several times during the day when I went to visit on the farm, I would put the clothes for wash, she would just re fold them and return them to my suitcase. She was the first person to ask me to wash the dishes, she would laugh years later when describing to people how I used 2 long handled sponges to avoid touching the dirty water. When I was asked to vacuum one day, she came behind me and said " when you hear the dirt going up like that you need to stay in that place longer, till the noise is gone- that means it's clean". When she hugged me she meant it. I would tell people she was my favorite aunt because we had " almost the same name" even though she, like most in my family, called me Missy.
What I have learned over the past 2 years has been partly a result of her struggle and her strength. I have realized through her fight and my own that it is important to surround yourself with people who support you and not be afraid to let go of those who don't.
I will love her always and keep so many great memories close to my heart. She will always be my favorite.
Thank you to those who have sent their support and kind words to my family

Movie Review
I read the book so I knew what was gonna happen, even though I prepared myself by making sure I had Kleenex, bought myself popcorn ( which makes me happy) and warned my 2 friends who had not read the book, thinking if I talk about it before hand "I'll be okay"......I became overwhelmed and started to sob during the movie. Tascha who has a habit of stealing candy from the bulk section of the grocery store ( she mixes everything and then puts the cheapest code on the tag- shameful) had no idea the movie was anything but a funny light hearted story about a dog called Marley. Katharine only commented something similar to " it's a damn dog people I ain't worried", she also wasn't worried at all when she assisted a street person take over 15 ,yes they were free but I believe they only wanted you to take 1, samples at our local Second cup. I have to admit they were a good team and yes Tascha helped out a little as well. In the end we all cried during the movie but just when I thought I was gonna have to remove myself from the theater an angel appeared. The second street person of the night walked in to catch the end of the movie, he sat down, stared at the screen for approx 1 min got up and left. He was dishevelled, quiet and I believe he had popcorn. He was a great distraction, we couldn't stop laughing- he saved me and I thank him.
Since I doubt you will have the added bonus features of the night as we did, I would recommend waiting for the rental. The movie was cute but had a movie of the week feel. The acting was generic, Jennifer's character was for me an extension of her character Rachael from friends when she was yelling at Owen's character she could have been yelling at Ross, the girl has limited range. Tascha and Katharine liked the movie better than I did.
Once again the book wins!
trailer
They took their Second Cup goods and headed over to Starbucks LOL . Please note they not the street person walked away with the goods? be confused it's okay - one of those " you had to be there moments".

They clapped at the end.... I can count on my one hand how many times the audience has clapped at the end of a movie and this was one of those times. The movie was sad, very endearing and was more about life in my opinion than about Benjamin Button. There were a lot of sweet moments and the acting was very good (Cate Blanchett is officially my favorite actress) . The only thing is the story is unbelievable but that's okay it's a movie right? For those that miss how Brad Pitt looked in Legends of the Fall ( remember that...oh my!) the part were he is on the motorcycle will bring you back to a happy place- it did for me!
I would recommend this one for all you movie lovers out there but if you avoided seeing Marley and Me because you didn't want to cry ( I read the book) know that this one is a tear jerker as well. I couldn't believe how many people had wet eyes when they turned the lights on.
It's a lovely movie. B gives it a A

Book Review- book club read
I have finally finished this damn book! It was heavy, the cover is creepy and the first half of the book couldn't have been more confusing. Ruby had chosen this for the book club, Barb ended up returning it to Chapters and if there was ever the option for me to give up on a read ( I don't) this would have been it. On a positive note once you get past the first half of the book it gets good, however, Stephenie you could have got your point across in a book half the size- really. The story line was the most original I have ever come across, this chick has a weird imagination and I doubt she is catholic. The main Character ( Characters- your intrigued by this aren't you) are like able and thankfully after the long hull I approve of the ending. I have read many books that are descriptive without being wordy this was not one of them. I hope to god they don't make a movie out of this one.
If you are a fast reader and can plow through the first half I would recommend this book and yes I am glad I finished it and it will make me appreciate my next chick lit read that much more, has it made me a better person- not really.

This movie continues to strengthen the argument that the book is always better than the movie. I was worried during the first 45min cause it was pretty bad. The theater audience including myself broke out into fits of laughter several times- the actors facial expressions, especially Edwards were hilarious, the makeup could have been better and the relationship between Bella and Edward was rushed so much in the movie that it was odd ( if you had read the book you may or may not have been bothered so much by it). The second half of the movie was much better. I must admit that in the beginning it was like watching a Canadian made movie of the week ( I am Canadian so don't bother giving me grief about that statement - I can verbalize that if I want to). I will say that Edward is one hot mother F**ker and I am in love with the character even more now, not the actor the character. I went with my friend Marlo and she too is in LOVE with Edward. She gave the movie a 8/10 but then said she would up it to a 10 because of the Edward factor. I am not gonna lie I was a little disappointed by the movie.
The part in the movie where Edward described being a vampire that fed off animals instead of humans like being vegetarian that eats tofu- "your fed but never really satisfied"- cute!
If you like adorable, sexy boys ( not men) that threaten to suck your neck, look like they have lipgloss on and stare at you with lust in their eyes but could never really touch ya like you would want them to........go see the movie! LOL
B gives the movie a C and gives Edward an A :)

Movie Review
So I'm dating this guy and we went to the movies........I will start with the positive- Daniel Craig looks real good in a pair of khakis and I believe I have said this before- lovely! I hate to compare but I will , this was not as good as Casino Royale. My date said the fight scenes were shot to close and the story line was weak- I agree, he gave the movie a 7/10. It was entertaining but not as many "pretty shots" as I like to call them as the last Bond flick. It was also mentioned that the bond girl didn't show enough skin, even more upsetting is that Mr Bond barely showed any himself ,I think we got only 2 quick glances in this one ladies ( unlike the last one- which again was lovely). Can I sit behind my laptop and recommend this movie to you ....yes I can and I will. Still worth seeing in the theater but definitely a little disappointing if you had high expectations. Trailer
B gives it a B ( mainly because of those khaki pants)

Protein Bar Recipe
My Dietitian Heather has me eating these homemade protein bars. I use to eat a lot of Zone bars- which aren't that great * corn syrup is not good for the bum. I was given the recipe along with my diet plan and they are amazing! Heather said I could share the love- so here it is. ( now people can stop stealing a piece of my bar- you know who you are!)
Please note my mother makes my bars for me therefore yours may or may not be as good - LOL my mom is awesome! and no she can't make you any. She took the below pic of me and we laughed as the bars were already wrapped and ready for the fridge but I thought the photo would be nicer if they were on the baking sheet - all in good fun!
Protein/ Energy Bars
Ingredients:
2 cups Oats
¼ cup Ground flax seed
4 scoops Protein powder

Directions:
Mix all ingredients together and press into a pan or cookie sheet. Cut into 8-9 bars. Keep refrigerated in airtight container or plastic wrap.
Makes 8 servings.

Tabloid Thursday
This tit for tat that has been going on between these 2 ladies is really starting to bore me ( who am I kidding- my head aches at the thought of having to hear another take on this overly done tabloid " scandal", which to be honest has gotten less scandalous as the YEARS!! have gone by. Did we read the Vogue article? I did and lets keep this as short as possible.........
Dear Jennifer
If you want to take the high road and keep your life private and avoid having your personal life discussed( you know how you are- or how you were when it happened) you don't bring up a situation ( lol- sorry) that happened years ago ( 6 kids later). Be consistent, was there really a need to say Angelina was "uncool" you should have left it at the comment you made YEARS ago when you said Brad had a sensitivity chip missing- that was good. You are dating a guy that needs a shower, is a male slut and rides your ass like a pony for publicity. I beg you- in the future just laugh off any questions about Brad- I recommend the old " life is good" comment, and maybe just maybe I won't have to continue to be subjected to seeing your face ( your pics always look like they were taken the same day) on every tabloid cover.
p.s- you are not a bad person and you have good hair

What I Have learned......
I am tougher than I thought, more independent than I knew, that truth still means everything to me, that when something ends it can lead to the start of something great, that no matter what I will never give up and that at the end of the day "things" are not what put a smile on my face.

My favorite - the green one! I enjoyed this book more than Something Blue and I really liked that one. This book was like watching a soap although unlike a soap I couldn't predict what would happen - I knew Ellen had 2 choices but I didn't know for sure which way it was gonna go ( don't worry read on I won't spoil the end). I will say , without giving too much away, that if her sister Suzanne didn't call you know Ellen would have.......- Please! so that little rationalizing she gave in the end- bullshitter LOL. There was so many pretty sentences in this book - I loved that! Usually, as you may have noticed, I like to include a quote from the book that stood out during my read - they were easy to find in this book. This is good quality chick lit ladies! Oh and page 338 when he shows up - that was a movie moment- Love!
" There are people and places and events that will lead you to your final relationship, people and places and events you you'd prefer to forget or at least gloss over. In the end, you can slap a pretty label on it- like serendipity or fate. Or you can believe it's just the random way life unfolds." pg 8

What can I say I love her, the concert was amazing. To have an ass that tight at 50 and be able to pull off a show that fantastic is incredible. She sounded great, the stage was very entertaining and she sang some old school along with some new tracks. I took some short video clips of the concert with my camera just as a souvenir :) One of my favorite parts of the show was a video presentation to the song get stupid ( see it on YouTube). All I can say is if you ever get the chance to see her - you must! well worth the money.
I went to the concert with Andrea, Dirty Girl (Najwa) and her Mom ( she was adorable). As you can see we purchased t- shirts and glasses ( same pair Madonna wore on stage) I ,due to poor eyesight, the fact that it was dark, my excitement and my 2 friends inability to notice my stupidity forgot to take the UVA sticker off from my glasses LOL ya I know laugh all ya want! I don't blame you. But Please note I GOT TO SEE MADONNA!!!!
enjoy the pics!

I walked the Half Marathon along with my buddy Ruby on Sunday while my girl Tascha ran the Full Marathon- I had a great time! Ruby ( sorry but I have to tell) thought she was only walking a 5km LOL despite signing up for a half marathon, she found out in the car on the way to the start line after her husband asked if he should just wait for us and drive us back. I laughed and said that would be a long wait and then the truth hit Ruby and she realized that the 1 muffin she had for breakfast probably wasn't the best choice- LOL it was a start to a fun day. I am not to sure of our time but it was under 3.5 hrs I believe. I must also add that it was freezing!!! and Ruby being the resourceful girl she is picked up a pair of gloves left on the side of the road ( runners often strip while they run when they get hot) and saved her hands from frostbite. I was smart from the get go and brought my own pair :) We saw Tascha at her half way point and she was still looking fresh though I gather from her status on facebook - she ain't doing to well right now. My hips hurt a little but I took some Advil and will survive, Ruby had a little limp going on - lol. We later went to the Distillery to have brunch at the Boiler House and it was great, we drank champagne and they had a jazz band which I love.

Book Club
We celebrated the 2nd anniversary of our book club yesterday. The book How to be Single was my pick and everyone liked it ( some of us really liked it) but a comment was made that it was " a little depressing". Ruby and I thought it was realistic. Think Eat Pray Love with a touch of Sex and the City. I laughed out loud a few times while reading this, I recommend it- single or not. We celebrated with great food and desserts I brought that I am thankful everyone enjoyed. I am also thankful that Doreen let me play with her iPhone, real Dior purse and Chanel glasses LOL the girl knows how to treat herself!
The next read as chosen by Ruby will be The Host by Stephanie Meyer.

The Good, the Bad and I'm taking a week off
I am wiped! haven't been to the gym in 4 days, feel dizzy when I stand and not even a cup of tea makes me feel good ( for me that's bad). I did however, lose 5 pounds in the last 2 weeks and I am on day 22 of my fitness program- no cheats and with the help of god avoided the box of flakies my mom had in the cupboard when I was home visiting yesterday- say it with me- Superstar! My plan, yes I always have one( I am anal and won't apologize for it- there are worst things one could be) is to rest and then get back to being busy.
Have a great week

Home Made Love B
When I was young I would watch my grandmother knit a sweater, mittens and slippers all in one evening and maybe even make a few pies- she was an amazing woman who I know would smile if she knew I learned how to knit. I enjoy making scarf's for people I care about and last week I finally finished this one for my aunt Linda. A lot of love went into this scarf, my aunt has been fighting an illness over the past year and every row I completed I wished her continued strength. Like my grandmother ( her mother) she is a tough, amazing woman who is very special to me. I used soya wool and when I told her that she laughed ( she and my mom grew up on a cattle farm). I haven't given it to her yet - she will be coming to stay with my parents soon- I hope she likes it!

A Ride for a Great Cause
On Sunday I participated in the MS Bike Tour in Toronto. Our Team included my buddy Joan, her husband Ken and their son Michael and we raised over $600.00 for the cause. The ride was 30km which I thought would be pretty easy, however, it started to rain 15min after we started- it was a very wet and cold ride but we all did it. I had a flat tire about 45min in and thankfully 2 very kind guys stopped and gave me a tube and cartridge and fixed my flat. I had a great time despite the weather and I look forward to doing it again next year. The plan is to complete a longer tour and Ken and I want to raise enough money to get the coveted MS cycle jersey and knowing us we will do it! To learn more about the MS Society click here.
Participation makes a difference- if we don't take the time to care the world is going to be a pretty shitty place to live in.

I am reading a lot lately and I blame it on the people I work with. At my new job everyone seems to be a big reader and someone is always saying "you have to read this it's a really good book". After reading this I can now understand why the girl who lent it to me was talking so much about soul mates all of a sudden. I have never read The Alchemists so I didn't know what to expect from this author. I am going to keep this simple, I felt lost in his words at times, for a short novel it felt long but it was original and made me think - which I like . If your looking for something different I would give it a go, the lender thought it was great. If you want more insight into the book click here.

Book Review
If I read a book and it makes me cry I automatically love it! To read a string of words on paper that provoke so much emotion that I break out in tears is pretty impressive. The story line was original ( I heard Oprah did a show with a similar topic) I like the authors style of writing- short chapters which is great for me. I am not sure how I feel about the ending of the book, it took me off guard, though I understand the point of it. If you have not read this book - you must! It's going in my top ten favorites.
" A photo says, you were happy, and I wanted to catch that. A photo says, you were so important to me that I put down everything else to come and watch" - I love that!! ( pg 130)
Question- for those that have read it
If you were Sara ( Anna's mother) would you have taken the same path to help save Kate?

A Night Out With Friends
My buddy Maita is home visiting ( she lives in Bermuda) and despite the fact that she forgot my b day this year I hung out with her the other night ( lol- and no I will not let you forget that). We went to a party hosted by our friends Sylvia and Neil. We call Sylvia "Martha" because the girl can decorate, cook and host a party like no other. We drank Margaritas all night, ate Indian food and Sylvia bought all the girls bindis to wear. I changed mine 3 times cause I'm a diva like that. It was a fun night and I would like to thank Neil for introducing me to Whisky Fireball Shots- it's good stuff!

I thought this book was going to be a continuation of Something Blue- it's not. I still liked it though but I found the story a little far fetched ( I can't tell you why because I will kill the purpose of the read) I reminded myself at the end that " this is chick lit", but for those that have read it please tell me that you agree that the ending was a big old " come on now". I have decided that my next 2 reads will venture away from the fluff that is chick lit ( I do love it though) cause I need a break. Emily is good at what she does and half the girls I work with are all powering through these books. I have 1 more left to go which I will read soon.

One of my Favorites
The Distillery in Toronto is a place I love to go. There are beautiful shops, cafes, pubs and art galleries. The pathways are cobble stone and it reminds me of places I have been to in Europe. I went last week with my friend Tascha and we bought the cutest earrings which are made out of Chinese paper. We also had coffee at a place called Balzac's where we meet up with Nicola and Erica, I found the coffee way too strong but they had cookies that looked awesome! I didn't have one but next time I will forgo the coffee and hit the cookie. We then walked over to Cherry Beach where I was attacked by huge flies that bit the heck out of my ankles- it was lovely.

1st off this is a bad pic she looks plastic- what the heck happened to her cheeks?? 2nd she didn't want a baby with Brad ( the god of all men- that's not me talking by the way he's "okay" IMO) so I doubt she wants a baby with John aka I need a wash Mayer. 3rd- that crap about Jessica Simpson being abused?? how funny that her need to divulge this info is the same week that her new country (WTF) cd hits stores- insert example of bullshitter here.
I wouldn't buy this cause I can't stand Mario ( insert definition of cheater here) but I will go to chapters and take a look.
Seriously what is the fascination with this chick?? if she did marry that man whore I now know why Brad left her- she nuts! (but you know as well as I do the story is false- remember we really just like the pics - right?)
I have nothing to say about this, nothing at all.

Movie Review
I went with my buddies Natascha and Najwa to see this on Sunday. They were trying to convince me to see Momma Mia and I held on to " no way" and avoided having to do so. I went to the theater production of that a few years back and thought it was boring. We all agreed Dark Night was a good movie. It was entertaining and as Najwa said " less comic like more psycho". Christian Bale is not my favorite Batman his voice sucked but he did an okay job. Heath Ledger was good as the joker but he was no Jack Nicholson.
I recommend this one. Did YOU see it?

B gives it a B+
This time I got a Veggie Whopper and Popcorn, the movie is long so bring food!

Book Club
I have never read a Danielle Steele's novel and as I stated at the book club I didn't think I was going to enjoy this read ( such I snob I know) but I was wrong, I liked it and so did everyone else in the book club. The story kept me interested, there was diversity in the characters, it was not predictable and it made me smile at the end- which is always good. We went out for Italian food this time and had 2 new members join us- Tascha and Ruby and it was a great time as always. We had a good laugh when the waiter came to the table and Tascha told her "Good Morning" - it was funny because the waiter never said anything and it was also 10pm LOL. ( sorry girl I had to share) please note there was no alcohol involved but there was a chocolate cheesecake that may have went to her head.
The next read as chosen by me will be How to be Single- a novel by Liz Tucillo.
enjoy the pics

I love good chick lit in the summer time! This series is as good as The Shopaholic books ( my fav). I enjoyed Something Borrowed but this one is so much better. I finished the first book hating Darcy but now I adore her and I really want to go to London ( you have no idea ;) I don't want to give anything away in case you haven't read it- we all know these books don't have much substance ( it's no Kite Runner) so if I start saying to much I will ruin it for you and that would be a damn shame wouldn't it- yes it would. I plan to read Baby Proof next, which is the 3rd in the series. Reading this book at night with a cup of tea at the bedside was comparable to watching Young and the Restless in the winter time with the fire place on LOL.
It's a good mindless romantic read
if you have read anything great lately let me know about it.

Party like a Rockstar
My birthday was so much fun, we started off the night at Kalendar Restaurant then went back to my house to hang out and have a few (well more than a few) drinks then off to Cheval for some dancing. I adopted my friend Andrea's sunglasses and as you will see from the pics I didn't want to take them off - I love a cool pair of shades. Tascha and I went a little camera crazy but we got some fun shots as a result. I only posted a few here and those that have seen the rest know why LOL.
Thanks to Andrea for making me the best custom made cake a girl could ever want!
* I will post a few shots from a barbeque we had at my parents place with a few friends and family later.

Lately as you might have noticed I haven't been blogging much, I didn't even realize that it was Thursday until just now 11:33pm! I use to start working on Tabloid Thursday days before. This is not a bad thing people I can honestly say the reason for my lack of blogging is because I am actually having fun and keeping busy. Lots of new things on the go, I will be joining a Kickboxing school this month- I am so excited about that. I have never been one to go out much to bars and pubs but due to a group of friends that wish to "corrupt me" I have learned to appreciate a nice drink on a outdoor patio. I will continue to blog throughout the summer but less frequently, my plan is to get out there and have a good time. My house is slowly coming together- it's going to look great and I am happy to say that my friend Tascha will be moving in with me soon - she is a fitness freak like me and you will see her on the blog soon enough. I will keep my camera close by and I hope to share some great pics with you.

I was gathering my info for this weeks post and came across this at Us Weekly. After all the support I have given this girl she pulls this crap- LOL I have been a vegetarian for 19 years ( that's why I still look like I am 24 years old really that's why)- UPDATE- I HOPE ANY NORMAL PERSON OUT THERE WITH COMMON SENSE REALIZES THAT I AM JOKING YA I THOUGHT SO. I have a sense of humor so I will leave it at this.......

To New Beginnings
I have just arrived home from the lawyers office- the house is officially mine. It's been a stressful few months for me and I am glad it's over. I am happy with my decision to stay in Toronto , thankful for the new friends I have, grateful for an amazing job. I walked in my front door today and I did it with a huge smile on my face. It's sad when things don't work out when you once looked at someone and saw your best friend and then they disappear from your life. I have learned that sometimes people come into your life for a reason but they aren't meant to stay. I'm excited to see what life has in store for me and to find that person that just can't be without me as much as I can't be without him- it will happen :)
The plan tonight is to celebrate!
thank you so much to all my family and friends for all your support during the last few months.

B in the City - New York
So my trip to NY was great. My buddy Maita flew in from Bermuda to meet me there for the week end. We saw Sex and the City the first night we arrived and I loved it and I can't say any more than that - you must see it if you were a fan of the show. I did get popcorn as usual but unlike here in Canada they don't sell flavoured powder and the girl was confused when I was asking for it. I tried to explain but she didn't understand. ( poor thing she doesn't know what's she is missing) You know we did some shopping, I bought a nice sexy dress, some shirts and some art work. We visited the Modern Museum of Art which was very interesting, my favorite was a video of an older man just standing in front of a white wall doing small movements with his arms while saying " this is art" over and over again. ( see my interpretation below) LOL, they had some freaky stuff in that museum. We also went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art which I loved I bought a print of Girl in Mirror by Pablo Picasso for my house. We went to HA! which is a comedy show near 42nd street which was fun, went to 2 fabulous restaurants for dinner Mexican and Indian and walked all the way to SOHO from our hotel ( we did a lot of walking). Maita got a tattoo while we were there, we walked by a place I joked that she should get one and she looked at me and said " should I" and yes she did. We took the subway to Brooklyn and I went to Subway while I was there to get a veggie wrap and there was a freakin cockroach by my foot - I jumped up, Maita laughed ( they have lots of big ones in Bermuda) and I took off- gross! I did not visit Canal st this time so no street purses - I wasn't in the mood. Central Park was beautiful and as always the people of NY fantastic, I don't know how they put up with all those tourists all the time. I can't wait to go back- love it.
* other than acting like a fool in our hotel room I didn't take many pics this time.

I went with my friend Tasha to see this and we both really liked it, Ashton is very nice to look at. The movie was funny and it wasn't just me who thought so the audience laughed out loud a few times. It was filmed in New York and Vegas 2 places I love to visit. I don't consider it a chick flick, I think the humor and the scene where Cameron walks around in her panties will keep the guys happy, she has obviously been visiting the gym cause she looked awesome. I also liked the fact that even though her character broke up with her boyfriend they choose not to show her lying around in the fetal position in tears cause lets be honest ladies/ girls not all of us play that position. HA! trailer
B gives it a B+ cause everyone needs a little funny once in awhile

B and baby Nolan
I spent the day on Sunday in the country where my brother lives celebrating my nephew Brayden's birthday. I had a great time, it was relaxing and just what I needed. I realized a few weeks ago that though I had pics of Nolan I didn't have one with him, so I made sure when I saw him this time I took a nice one. He still loves his auntie B. My other 2 nephews, who are also super cute, don't easily stand still for a pic, but I will try to get a group shot next time- it won't be easy.B:)

Tabloid Thursday
I left out 2 covers this week that featured Jessica Simpson , they need to leave that girl alone, if she broke up with him ( Tony) fine but I don't think they did. I know ever since the Nick and Jessica break up I have a soft spot for her, whatever.
I have seen pics of her and she is definitely breast feeding, good on you girl!( though even as a nurse that has worked in OBS I can't say I would? but lets not go there right now) and what's with Britney and Mel Gibson hanging out? How is Mel gonna help Britney- how? seriously, although if he flew me to Costa Rica I would go and so would YOU!
Love it . I will be at chapters giggling with my latte and if that's wrong I don't know what to tell you.
She looks soo pretty, I love her but I hate her.

Book Review
I saw this book lying around in my staff lounge and started reading it while on a night shift. I know many people have read it, my girl Britney was seen carrying it last year ( she needed this one). It's a small book with a big message. Four Agreements that challenge the ego. I won't explain what I walked away learning from this book( too personal too individual) I do find myself using the concepts while talking to my patients at work, I said to one the other day " don't assume". It made me laugh but this book has made a big impression on me. I would definitely recommend reading this one.

Tabloid Thursday
So here is the junk for this week - enjoy and feel free to comment - even if you disagree with me, it's all good around here.
John Mayer needs to stop skirt chasing everyone in Hollywood as far as I am concerned, there is something about him that I find insincere. I don't think this will last past next weekend, that is if it is even still going. Wake up Jen everyone's body is a wonderland for this guy. I still think he looks like he needs a shower
Again the Spears clan chooses to sell those private moments in life that they cry and bitch that `the media`takes away from them. Whatever!
We can all appreciate the journey to get back in shape once you fall off the wagon and hit the bag of chips, you go girl. ( for me it`s chips for you maybe something else) do tell....
Okay Lopez has twins and now everyone is gonna have a pair.
The bits
* Barbara is coming to Toronto June 3rd to promote her book which I won`t read but I would like to go tell her to get rid of Elizabeth- if I am off I will try - I will do it for YOU! lol
have a good one

I hope one day to not wake up wanting to be fit and strong, I don't want to have to think it anymore I just want to be it and make space for something else

I had left this comment on Melissa's blog after reading her post. My reaction after I wrote it, a little sad I'm still not there and somewhat encouraged that if I continue to try I will succeed. I wish sometimes that I was the type of person that didn't care so much, didn't pollute my mind with the need for perfection. I have sacrificed a lot through the years because I continue to chase the need to be thinner, fitter etc, I am slowly learning the need to chase happiness in other areas of my life.

Tabloid Thursday
My choice for cover of the week. Rumor has it she may be pregnant? I'm just happy for her and I think her and Jay Z are a great couple. Ashlee Simpson is engaged and rumor has it she is pregnant as well. God help ya if your a celebrity and get married just for love. LOL I have really missed my Thursday rags but I will let you all know that if the crap gets monotonous again I will just do a sidebar posting to avoid wasting my time and yours- Deal!
Ya think?? They don't match to me. But I will tell you that the other day I watched Mr and Mrs Smith and reflected on Jen's break up with Brad- I can now relate to what she had said about him " he has a sensitivity chip missing" I know someone with that same problem.
I disagree. I think she will make it this time, however because I have not been able to officially assess her that is a personal not professional opinion :)
Please!!! she dropped out 2 kids, placenta, tons of water and she is probably wearing one of those spanx things. * Dancing with the Stars - are you watching? I only watch to see him- hello there ;)

I am going to keep this simple- if you like a great movie, one that has emotion, is beautifully filmed and totally takes you by surprise at the end, YOU WILL LOVE THIS MOVIE.
The best I have seen in awhile.

Okay so this is what I was reading when I should have been reading the book club pick- my bad! I adore Becky Bloomwood, initially I thought this book wasn't as good as the others in the series but who am I kidding, I liked it. I laughed and I love the fact that she is sooo naive ( a little flighty) but passionate and always comes out on top! I am looking forward to the movie, Isla Fisher is a great choice to play Becky. Reading this book made me want to have a baby after all - one day. I figure I'm a great girl and I will find a great guy! and if not I will contact Angelina Jolie and find out where she gets hers from- LOL.
The book also ended in a way that I see more coming in the future- and that's good for me I need some good chick lit once in awhile.
My next read is the pick for the book club, cause it would look pretty shitty if I flaked out twice in a row .

Book Club
Let me start out by confessing that I did not read the book( this is my first time not getting it done so chill), I lost my copy and refused to buy another( no I am not cheap but on principal I couldn't do it- lol . I also hoped it would show up- it didn't). I was not the only one either ( hey Barb;) but those that did finish said they liked it. Carol gave me her copy so I will read it and review it later. We had to settle on having dinner at Kelsey's because everything else was closed as it was Easter Monday. The food there is okay, but as always it was a great time. Thanks to everyone who came out and my mother for making the date squares.
The next read as chosen by Barbara is The Chocolate Lovers Club . Join along if you'd like.

No Regrets
Whats the best thing about ending a relationship with someone you once cared for....
having your best friend offer to fly home from Bermuda to hang out with you and your sister lending you her Victoria Secret Pj's ( I bought them for her) and ordering you a pizza.
I have always believed that if you do not have Truth and Respect you have nothing in any relationship. I also believe the truth will always show itself down the road.
I would like to quote Martha Stewart as she was the inspiration behind the white dishes I bought for my kitchen

The 430 craving
Ok this need of mine lately to stand in front of the cupboards like a animal not fed for weeks needs to stop. I emailed Tony ( the trainer) and he provided me with a shake he calls the " Craving Killer" so I am going to give it a go. It's so frustrating when you put your time in the gym but then have to struggle to stay on track with your diet. I didn't do much damage but there was chocolate and a handful of barbeque chips involved in the moment of weakness. Picture me standing in my kitchen, cupboards open, hands on hips deciding " should I do this" LOL. I did do an extra cardio session this week and I completely blame the bad water in Toronto for feeling so blah.
It's all about consistency - so I'll be back at the gym this week and trying my best in the kitchen. Hope your all giving it your best!
check out this video of Valerie Waugaman talking about her role on American Gladiators and being a fitness model- She's one of my favorite fitness gals.

Tabloid Thursday
Lets start off with what shocked me most this week- right here. When I saw this cover my mouth hung open for maybe 20 sec then I continued on hoping to forget I ever saw it. Tabloid Thursday will see it's death if they keep that up. Very sad.
who cares about the familia - look at the bottom right, rumor has it Jess and JT are not "doing well" insert creepy laughter and end it with a good old I told you so.

Maybe the second most shocking thing in the past week was seeing this pic of Angelina- Where the heck did that come from, it pains me to say this cause I like to think I know all but I wasn't 100 % sold she was pregnant. I have since been educated to the fact.
Britney sending you my love girl- hope someone hugs you today.
I don't believe they will get married but what the hell do I know?
Bits
New @ People.com ( at least I never saw it before) What you missed over the weekend recap video. if you like Thursday's you'll enjoy this.
* Wishing you well Patrick
